Unfocused leadership is often one of the major carcinogens of
becoming an actual leader, who proceeds in a way, that makes a
significance difference for the better in his organization. How can
anyone achieve anything significant and relevant, which addresses needs,
concerns and priorities, if he doesn't clearly recognize and understand
these issues?
There are so many aspects and necessities involved, that only when one is well-situated and prepared to develop a strategic action plan, nearly every organization will suffer, especially in the long-term. True leaders develop their skills and abilities, for optimum performance and response! In order to do so in a reliable, dependable manner, one must optimize his FOCUS.
1. Find one's focus so as to able to proceed fully forward: A real leader rarely has the option or luxury of proceeding in anything but his finest gear, and in order to do so, he must clearly identify what is needed, avoid distractions and petty, unessential matters, and proceed consistently forward towards his goals. This requires organization, training, judgment, knowledge, and lots of keen attention, used together in a synergistic way, so as to transform one's ideas to genuine, meaningful wisdom. Always ask, Does that leader get it?
2. Optimize; options; opportunities: You can't be willing to merely settle for less than the best course of action, yet wishing so, and even aiming to do so, doesn't get it done! Real leaders seek to optimize their actions, by analyzing alternatives and making the best decision, so as to opt for the best available option. However, greatness will only come from transforming one's chances to recognizing and taking advantage of opportunities, plus having the ability to make one's own!
3. Clarity; cooperation; make choices: Are you a clear thinker? Can you witness a number of potential choices, and then clearly proceed forward to make the best choice, and to feel confident in your ability to do so? Are you the type of person who resorts to blaming and complaining, and pitting various factions or individuals who have disagreements, against each other? Or, do you seek cooperation, common ground, and ways to get those who disagree, to seek ways to work together, for the betterment of the organization? You must be willing to not only see your options, but must be ready, willing and able to make choices in a consistent, well-conceived, timely manner!
4. Understand more; better use skills to best advantage: One must transform all his training into learning; his experiences into relevant expertise, and recognizing issues to understand the best way to address needs and concerns. It's not enough to merely possess assets and skills, but one must do so, to best advantage!
5. Sustainable system: Don't be one of those people who proceeds like the proverbial chicken without its head. Rather, understand the history and heritage of the group, grasp the mission, adopt and articulate a vibrant, vital vision. and do all you can to not only address current issues, but to take a longer-term view and/or perspective!
If you want to lead, you must be clear on what you wish to achieve. Only when a leader is able to FOCUS clearly, and proactively proceeds forward, does a group benefit and evolve in a necessary, sustainable way.
