THE Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commissions (ICPC) has focused its searchlight on seven ex- state governors and one serving governor
Informed source disclosed that the investigation followed series of petitions cataloging the alleged atrocities performed by the former governors while in office. Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers, Sullivan Chime of Enugu, Ibrahim Shema of Katsina and Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano.
Already four
teams have been raised to visit the States to check the books of the States to establish the allegations against the Governors.
The source, who did not want his name mentioned, said the investigations by the commission cut across party affiliation.
According to the source, “we have stepped up our investigations and all the cases will be properly investigated and concluded. Anyone found culpable will be charged to court.”
Also, the source revealed that the ICPC was strengthening all its state offices in the country with capable hands to tame all those who have siphoned the wealth of the masses.
Active Circle gathered that cases against the accused governors were being investigated, while investigations had reached advanced stages. It was also gathered that lack of funds was threatening the investigative capabilities of the commission.
This, the source added, was why the commission was carrying out the investigations in bits
The source said the ICPC was strengthening its investigative apparatus, in order to meet the mandate for which it was set up.
